A Solocator alternative for before and after proof
Solocator is a GPS field camera for iPhone and iPad. It stamps location, direction, date and time onto each photo, and it is cheap. JobProof does something different: it organises photos into jobs, pairs before and after, and gives the client one link.
How the two compare
Solocator is a camera that records exactly where a photo was taken and which way it faced. JobProof is a job tool built around the before and after pair.
| Feature | JobProof | Solocator |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, no card | $0.99, plus an optional Industry Pack at $5.99, paid once |
| Phones | Android app, and in the browser on iPhone | iPhone and iPad, iOS 15 or later |
| Stamp on the photo | No. Our free browser tool can stamp photos you already took | Yes: GPS, compass bearing, date, time and notes |
| Before and after photos | Yes: ghost overlay, automatic pairs, slider | Not listed. It saves a stamped copy and an original |
| Client sharing | Yes: one link with your logo, a slider, call and review buttons | Email, share sheet and zip files |
| Exports | CSV reports | KML, KMZ and CSV, and saving to Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive |
| Assign jobs to crew | Yes: assign jobs, owner, manager and crew roles, live dashboard | Not listed |
Solocator details come from its own page, checked 4 November 2026. Prices change, so confirm them there. "Not listed" means we could not find it on that page, not that it is missing from the product.
Why people look for an alternative
Solocator is rated 4.3 out of 5 from 424 ratings on the App Store. In the critical reviews we read, people disliked that it saves two copies of each photo by default and fills up the camera roll. The developer replied that each copy can be turned off in settings. One reviewer also mentioned higher battery use.
The other reason is the phone: the App Store listing is for iPhone and iPad, so a crew on Android needs something else.
What JobProof does differently
- A crew member sees only their jobs, in big numbered steps, in their own language.
- A job can't be marked complete until an After photo is in.
- The client gets one link with your logo and a before and after slider, with no login.
- JobProof does not stamp the photo. It records who took each photo, when, and where the job was started. Our free timestamp tool can add the date and time, and coordinates if the photo has them, to photos you already took, all in your browser.
A stamp or a pair?
A stamp answers where and when. A before and after pair answers what changed. For a cleaner, painter or detailer, the client usually cares more about the second question. For a damage record or a site survey, the first matters more.
You can have both. Take the photos in JobProof, and if a client or insurer wants the date printed on them, run them through the free timestamp tool afterwards. Nothing is uploaded.
When Solocator is the better choice
If a surveyor, engineer or insurer needs the exact position and compass bearing printed on every photo, Solocator is built for that and costs very little. JobProof does not record bearing or stamp images in the camera.
Questions
Is Solocator on Android?
The listing we checked is on Apple's App Store, for iPhone, iPad and some Macs. We did not find an Android version.
Can I add a timestamp to photos with JobProof?
Not in the camera. The free timestamp tool on this site stamps photos you already have, without uploading them anywhere.
Will my client see a stamp in JobProof?
No. Clients see clean photos in a before and after slider, with your logo at the top of the link and buttons to call you or leave a review.
Does JobProof record GPS?
It saves the phone's location once, when a job is started, if the crew member allows it. It does not track anyone during the day, and it does not put coordinates on the image.
